Home is... a peculiar concept. A place of safety and comfort. Knowable. Reliable. Since merging with the capsule, home has become a network of spacebound facilities separated by astronomical distances. Time seems less than relativistic when moving between them, like passing through a doorway from one room to the next. Not to mention the ability to transfer from body to body through quantum conveniences...
With accumulating age and experience, I wonder if the Thukker donGÇÖt have the right of it. To enjoy a perpetual state of arrival, a guest to be welcomed briefly and blessed in departure, an event that echoes forward in continuum.
To address the topic: I have been away from Gelfiven VIII for almost 15 years, but I do remember it. Gelfiven is larger and hotter than Pator, though barely out of the K Classification itself, so the plants there are greener than some Matari might expect. With lighter gravity and less air pressure, they grow in many large, broad-leafed morphologies, particularly around the tropics where I grew up pretending to be a bug, miniature and invisible in a world of giants. Like Matar, the geography of Gelfiven VIII is primarily continents of island chains separated by vast oceans. Gelflamis, lush and low, is one such formation just south of the equator. Here a rainstorm can last days rather than hours, but instead of pouring from the sky, the water tends to swirl on the winds in miniscule particles. It isnGÇÖt unpleasant, but you will still end up drenched.
Badbesver is an urban district and seaport, similar to most cities in the region. Since the land is rich for farming, Native Freshfood partners with many agricultural co-ops to produce crops for the rest of the Republic. ItGÇÖs antinomy on a geological timescale; a white city on the ocean, struggling against an untiring and unpitying tide of green. A child can flourish here, though I do not miss it.
